New patients
Your first visit, step by step
A first rheumatology visit usually takes about an hour. Most of it is talking: your symptoms, your history and the tests you have had.
What to bring
- Photo ID and your insurance card
- A list of every medicine and supplement you take, with doses
- Recent lab results, X-rays or MRI reports, and bone density (DEXA) scans
- The referral from your primary care doctor, if your plan requires one
- Arrive 15 minutes early to complete new-patient forms
Insurance and referrals
We accept Medicare and Medicaid. Many commercial plans are accepted too. Call us with your member ID and we will check your coverage before your first visit.
Some plans, including many HMOs, need a referral from your primary care doctor before your visit. Ask their office to fax it to 813-555-0143.
Patient portal
Ask the front desk for your portal invitation at your first visit.
